Their Story

Even with potential arguements on the rise, Sora and Kairi are the main couple of Kingdom Hearts. They grew up together hanging out with their best friends in their home, Destiny Islands. With each year passing by, Sora and Kairi just became more infatuated with each other. They were seperated due to the invasion of their home, but affection and dedication for one another kept each other strong and in the end they were reunited once again.

In the video game, it's never clearly explained or shown how Sora and Kairi first met. All we know is that there was a new girl in Destiny Islands and she lives in the Mayor's house. In the Kingdom Hearts manga, one of the very first pages shows an illustration of Kairi, who's has been washed up by the shore. A young Sora then approaches her.

First things first, in Kingdom Hearts, it starts out with Sora in a strange dimension and hears a voice around him. He is soon awaken by Kairi, thinking it was just a dream. Sora with his best friends Kairi and Riku, were currently in their playground, Destiny Islands. They decided to build a raft so they can all set off to see the worlds beyond their home. One night, creatures known as the Heartless invades their hometown and takes Kairi away. Sora searched for her around the island and Riku ended up giving himself into the darkness. Sora in the other hand, is given a weapon known as the Keyblade. He is still oblivious to the situation but ends up using the weapon and defeat the few enemies around him.

Sora is then sent to a place called Traverse town, where he meets Leon, Yuffie, Aerith and Cid who explains to him what has been happening to the worlds. He also meets his soon to be companions, Donald and Goofy who were looking for the "Key" and their King (King Mickey). Together the three of them journeys to every world they come across to find more clues, answers and more importantly find the friends they'd been searching for.

Sora soons finds Kairi unconscious, because she has no heart, in Hollow Bastion, and discovers that she is the 7th Princess of Hearts. He then decided to give his heart away to save his best friend. Sora turned into a heartless, but Kairi's strong affection for Sora broke the barrier of the darkness and Sora became himself again. When they return to Traverse Town, Kairi gave Sora a charm and they both made a promise to each other that no matter where they are, they will be together once again and Sora vows to return the charm (the Oathkeeper), back to Kairi.

In the ending of Kingdom Hearts, Sora and Kairi were reunited, but they once again seperated, because Sora still needed to continue his journey and find his best friend Riku.

Sora and Kairi appears again in the sequel, Kingdom Hearts II. Kairi was in Destiny Islands, but sets off on her own will to find Sora. She ends up in Twilight Town, only to be kidnapped by Axel, who is an Organization XIII member.

The final battle takes place in The World That Never Was. Kairi was freed by a girl named, Naminé and Kairi soon met up with her friend Riku. Sora, Donald and Goofy finally reaches The World That Never Was and he was finally reunited with Kairi and Riku. Sora and Riku together, fights off in the last battle and finally return to their home, Destiny Islands. Sora, Kairi and Riku are at last together again.
